Just sake I believe.
Head chef is Japan now. His mam is critical condition , he wants to be her bedside.
It seems like this restaurant is too small to do that
Tuesday
I wish I can move this whole restaurant to where I live. The sushi here is top notch. They are amazingly fresh. They seem to make their own broth for udon. The broth isn’t soy sauce based like what you normally see elsewhere. With this quality you would normally expect to pay twice as much as they actually charge.
The closest thing to the delicious food I experienced on my visit to Japan.
Great selection of Japanese dishes that are frequently overlooked by other establishments. Small, but worth the wait - the food is quite authentic.
Great food for the price. This is my go to place when I crave some Udon. There is always a long wait since the place is small and the food is yum. Love the udon! The sushi rolls can be better.
Lazy owner does not care to update holiday hours.
I lived in the area for over 20 years and this was my go to place for food sushi, nigiri and udon before I moved to Chicago. Every time I come back to the area this is a must visit for the freshness of the fish and the great udons. Most importantly the prices are very reasonable. I don't think they have changed prices in the past 10 years. It is small so come prepared for a wait during meal time.
Love the food, price, environment. The best udon and always the best cut fish. Be aware of the wait time, can be from 30 minutes to a hour.
Small menu but delicious food and good sushi! The prices were reasonable. We loved the udon!
Authentic japanese food. Honestly this can be a hit or miss, I think depending on the chef, but more often than not it is a hit. If they could be more consistent with their quality and have a booking/reservation system then I would definitely come here more often
This place is always excellent and our favorite for a Japanese noodle bowl like the Ajishin or their curry rice (pork based). They are still open for carry out so please go support them! Workers are wearing gloves and doing all they can to ensure you have the best experience possible. ♡
The absolute best Japanese food in Southeast Michigan. I've had a lot of Japanese in my 22 years of existence, from modern premiums like Genji to top-rated establishments like Izakaya Senpai - and Ajishin never fails to beat them all out in terms of freshness, flavor, and service. The staff are kind and the food emulates their attitudes.I'm a regular and will continue to be one.
Awesome food! I was really impressed with the overall quality here. The place is rather small and we experienced a really long wait time but it was most denifinately worth it.
I eat in this place many times a year! This is my favorite restaurant to grab a bite. I visit this place routinely. The meals are excellent, the staff members are professional and the price is affordable. I enjoy being in this restaurant for a decent supper.
Great pricing for the amount of food given!
Authentic Japanese food. The soup hit the spot. Lunch special was really good & priced right, see picture.
Always great food. The udon and sushi are so good and worth the wait. Don't hesitate to swing by for delicious Japanese food.
Awesome, at the beginning I felt I was in another continent, the food is authentically Japanese, the restaurant itself created an awesome Japanese atmosphere.Food is very good and not expensive, I tried Ajishin Udon, service is very good too, If you like Japanese food this place is a must !
Loved the ambience. Good service and they have lunch options. Remember lunch time there sometimes is a queue.
Very small place but great service.very welcoming and courteous staff. food is scrumptious 😋😋 be prepared to wait in line before your turn
Udon broth is amazing! Very authentic Kyoto style broth and price is also good. Con is that there’s always a long line but it’s worth it.
They have the best Udon!! I love going to this place. Its so worth the wait!😁🍜
Expect a long wait. Limited hours and always busy. The food is wonderful. Artfully done, fresh and amazing. Well worth making the trip from wherever you live. It all starts with their special Udon Noodle Soup, simple ingredients with masterful flavors. I will be back often to eat my way through the entire menu.
If you're looking for a cozy little Japanese place with really good food, look no further. If you're looking for a quiet, calm place, don't come here on a Friday night. The service was quick and friendly but, because the place is so small and seating so limited, it felt hectic and wild. That being said, we ordered carry out and had it ready within 20 minutes. The udon is very good and so was the sushi (though, it's no One World Market). I'd go here again, but not on a Friday night.
Everytime an experience. I love this place. Very good and traditional food. A lot of Japanese people are there. That's a good sign!
Best place for Japanese food!
Simple menu. Excellent food. Rolls are smaller than some other places but still good. Try their grilled fish, curry rice, and other dishes, not just the sushi. So so good. Comfort food.
Best Japanese noodle soup and sushi! Everything is fresh and authentic. One of my favorite restaurants in Greater Detroit area.
The salad could be half size, at least for lunch, but this is the best Japanese restaurant in the area, in my opinion. Flavor is delicious, portion sizes are perfect (especially since you can order half size), and prices are great value! I've never seen sushi in the US at this inexpensive rate, but even better than price, it actually tastes wonderful.
Cozy Japanese restaurant. Price is fair and quality is good.Only small downside is that it can get very busy easily and the wait time would be pretty long.
Yes, there's limited seating and probs a 30 min wait but this just makes the experience worth it. Food is great and their deals on everything is amazing. Go-to items are the Soft Shell Crab Sushi, along with the 1/2 Udon + 1/2 Curry. You get a salad along with the entrees too! Hot and refreshing green tea is always provided to help you settle in. Can't wait to come back!
Highly recommended! One of the best Japanese restaurants around. They serve authentic, quality Japanese food. We've been going there for almost 20 years. The food is as good as ever and the prices haven't gone up in all those years. There's not enough seating in the restaurant and it gets full so arrive early. For lunch, we try to arrive before opening time. It's better to wait outside for a while than to wait a long time once everybody in line gets seated. We've waited one and a half hours in line for a dinner table (with kids!)--they're that good.
Food was very tasty and services was also fast at affordable price range.
Excellent food, large portions, low prices. Certainly a "go-to" place. Check it out!
Love the noodle and sushi. Worth waiting.
I love this place!! I feel that it is as close as you can get to eating in Japan without being in Japan. The Aijishin is amazing!! The owner is one the nicest people you will ever meet. I drive from Midland, MI just to eat here...yes, it is that good!! Just arrive early, or, you will be waiting for a seat.
best udong ever.Ajishin udong & poched egg Udong
Great atmosphere, great food, great staff. Warning it gets busy, because it is great. No call a head seating, most people mess up the system they have on their first time. Walk in write your name on the list and move out of the serving staffs way.I prefer going alone or in small groups of 3 or 4, it helps with getting seated faster.
Finest food, very kind staff, consistently good vibes. They charge affordable pricing and the food quality is fantastic. Fantastic work.
Always LOVE the food here... But do expect a long line from time to time.
I generally prefer vegetarian food and this place has very few vegetarian options. I tried the wild mountain plants Udon bowl. However, they do not have vegetarian bowl option. The atmosphere is very calming, our server was prompt and cheerful and some amazingly good quality cheap food.
Every time I come to Ajishin, the staff is wonderful and the food is delicious. Love everything on the menu, and it is such a great atmosphere. Definitely recommend to come here
Good price and delicious but have to be wait at least 25min. Noodles are all good. You should go without rush lunch time or be the first there11:30 ;)
I've been here 20 years ago and they still serve same delicious dishes. Even prices haven't changed at all. Great quality Japanese restaurant with dignity and pride. One of few 5 stars I have.
Perfect example of poor customer service ruining an otherwise amazing experience. Been going here for years, have endured long lines, a 20 minute drive and cramped seating area for spectacular food. However, today I had such a bad customer service experience regarding a mix-up in my order (that was very clearly their fault) that I will never be going back. Too many good Sushi restaurants in the area to put up with that.
Awesome portions, amazing low prices and delicious food! If you like Japanese cuisine, this is the place to go. Best authentic Japanese udon I ever had! The sushi is good and simple, nothing fancy about it. Service is fast. The place is very small. The wait time is longer if you have over four people. I recommend to call and ask how long the wait time will be.
Great food, but make sure you get here well in advance. Its a small establishment and it fills up fast.
My friends took me out for my birthday here and it was amazing!! The taste was perfect and the curry was so flavorful and the price is not expensive at all. Definitely will make time to come out here more often.
I love the food here! My go to order is the Ajishin noodle! I do recommend going in a small group or as couple since it's a small space/limited seating. Wait time is the only down side but worth the wait!
Very-very good udon, best one I ever had. Sushi are simple but very good.
I waited for almost 50 min to eat and... totally worth it. I order nigiri and Udon Ajishin and remind me when I was eating in Japan a few years ago. Take in consideration that nigiri is served with wasabi and Saturday might be very crowded
